Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Has Fry betrayed our young?

Question:How do I explain to my 8 year old that this year's pantomime at the Old Vic has been hi-jacked by queers and I have paid good money to introduce her to a perverted other world where 'Your Highness' turns into 'Your Anus' and Buttons unbuttons for Dandini? A world where it is perfectly normal for Nature's errors to become the norm?

please ...get a life.... I saw that production . Fry cleverly divided the grown-up world from the children's world. Don't underestimate your child. There smarter then many grown-ups. For god sake. You live in a land that has a meaning of "I'm shagged out" or "let's go to the ****'s Tavern" maybe you should your child away from that as well ...and every television programme ever produced(I'm in no doubt you watch reality tv and read heath magazine). No, it was a brilliant production and nobody asked you to go. And yes some mothers were going wild(e) for the scenes (when the prince takes a shower for one) so maybe you should blame the other parents as well. And no don't complain to the producers/Theatre. Cause it only will show that deep within you secretly desired this ..By the way "Nature"???? Animals (Oh, Yes we are) , if they can't have sex with the opposite sex, the go for the same sex, if they can't find the same sex, they go for different species. That's Nature!Welcome to the 21st century....Are you Christian By any Change ? Let me tell you , That production reminded me a lot of the on-goings of the Church of England and Westminster. So Get your head out of your "Anus" and get a grip of reality...I pity your child.

O..................k then!

Don't explain. don't go! Write a letter of complaint to the theatre. It probably wont do any good but I believe we should take a stand on these matters and voice our opinions.

mmmmmmmmm.........Stephen Fry

"where it is perfectly normal for Nature's errors to become the norm?" - You been to a theater befor?

I don't get it..??

what the f*** are u talkin about?

Stephen Fry is not only hilarious, but he's an amazing person. Quit hating.

You know the nature of the show. You have a choice. No one is making you see it. Why would you have to explain it to your 8 year old any more than you would explain any other content you consider unsuitable?

You'd be better explaining to your daughter that you're an halfwit who would stop her from enjoying a normal childhood experience because of your outdated views. You could also stay at home and write hate filled letters about the 'mincing menace' to the local newspaper until they have to take an injunction out on you. Good luck whatever you decide.

just tell her that all the actors are queers because we enjoy laughing at them

It's Pantomime darling - Pantomime.

Where the leading man is a woman and the Step mother and ugly sisters are men.

It is Parody at its British best and the fkucing Goose is 7 feet tall, and beans grow into sodding great trees that reach the sky, and cats wear kinky leather boots and cavalier hats.

And WTF do you keep asking the same question.

You are either extracting the urine or there was something seriouly missing in your chidhood to miss out on this fantastic family entertainment.

Try living in the real world - your 8 year old probably does!!

Pantomime has always been full of 'double entendres' the whole point is that it goes over the kids heads and entertains the adults too!

Take that poker out of your bum and try and enjoy yourself - incidentally with an attitude like yours, your daughter lives with one of natures errors so now take her to see some normality - i.e the queers at the Old Vic!

You are a fascist idiot.

Pantomime traditionally includes cross dressing and plenty of inuendo. Whats the problem?
Your 8 year old will only ask questions that are relevant to her/him, the rest will go over their head.
This is the norm!
