Well, let's not talk dreams--you're going to have them regardless. Let's talk about making them reality if you can. There are, after all, quite a few professional actors and they generally love it, regardless of their level of fame or prosperity.

Since you're in high school, you can start now to build an acting career. Later, you may change your mind, but much of the work you do toward acting can help in other professions.

So: while in high school, take a good college-prep curriculum--four years of English, four of math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, psychology, and the arts. It may not be evident to you but math and physics are important in some aspects of the theatrical arts!

And earn the best grades you can--and use those grades to convince your parents that your interest in theatre is motivating you!

Meanwhile, polish your talents. Get classes or lessons in acting, voice, and dance. Audition for as many shows as you can--not only school plays, but look for community theatre groups and nearby college programs--call them and ask if they have upcoming shows with roles for a girl your age. If you can't get a part, ask if you can volunteer to work backstage or even as an usher.

While doing shows, you'll make contacts who know something about acting and theatre and show biz. Keep in touch with as many knowledgeable ones as you can.

In your junior year of high school, you should start looking for colleges. Ask your counselor and your contacts in local theatre for help--you want to identify 4 or 5 colleges that offer a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) in theatrical performance--that's a more intensive degree than a plain bachelor of arts (BA), so make certain that the degree program has that F in the middle! You want 1 or 2 schools where it's a challenge to get accepted, 1 or 2 where you have a decent chance of admission, and 1 "safety net" that accepts everyone.

Early in your senior year, you apply to all of those colleges. You do it early because (1) some financial aid has early deadlines, but more importantly (2) after you get admitted as a student to the college, then you must apply for and get accepted to the BFA program in theatrical performance. At that point, you'll need to provide a resume listing all the things you've done in theatre, letters of recommendation (which are best if they come from your theatre contacts--especially if you were lucky enough to do a college show!), and you'll need to travel to the college to audition for them.

Your BFA program will teach you about all aspects of show biz--lots of acting, of course, but also basics of lighting, costuming, business management, etc. It will hone your skills and prepare you for the hard, hard slog to full status as a professional actor.

Break a leg!

its a good ambition but chances of sucess is not all that likely. keep that as a hobby

any dream is a good dream to have as long as you stick to it and work hard. I always wanted to be a singer but no one ever supported me or told me i could do it. sounds silly but, it was like a joke to everyone so i blew it off. If this is what you want --- you can do it. (wow - i sound like that guy on every adam sandlar movie. lol. you can do it.. uh sorry nevermind that) anyway ... its going to take hard work and dont expect anyone to help you ... go get what you want

Yes!It is a very good dream! That is if you want to be!Just be yourself and if you wanna be an actress follow your dreams and go for it!

What is it you like most? The interaction and timing, or the fame? If it is the former, maybe a local acting guild would furnish the wherewithall to make your dream happen.

as long as you can put hard work and dedication into it. I would say its one of the hardest jobs to establish cause it could take years till you land a big break but once you do its the most rewarding job ever.

it's a good dream if it's what you really want. go for it. or you may regret it. your family just doesn't understand probably and they want you to live a successful life. (which is good) but you don't want to be 55 and always think 'what if......'

Well when you turn the age where you can make your own decisions at that time then you can answer this question for yourself. For now if your under 18yrs old it's back to doing what your parents want you to do. If you think about it their ideas for you aren't really that bad and more realistic. Being an actor is the most difficult job to get and to have. The things that you see on TV is all an illusion. A tv/film actor spends most of their time waiting for the set to be set-up. Oh and by the way if you think going to college for acting to get a degree in acting. Think again. That degree will not even land you anything except probably for "would you like fries with that". To get real experience in acting is to be doing it everyday by reading and especially, ESPECIALLY being in a play. Acting classes are only good to get some possible contacts.

any dream is good

:)

good luck

just remember if you really love it you wont care if you end up on tv,, because youll be having fun as long as your doing it
