Write directly to the director, the producer and the casting director and submit a tape of your work. You'll be ignored for the most part but occasionally you'll be called in, especially if you have an "interesting face". The casting director will not call you in, your submitting to them so that they don't retaliate because you've circumvented the system by going over their heads. When you get called in it will be by the producer or the director; you'll most likely be interviewed (the interview is the audition). It's rare that you'll read but if you are asked be prepared; take cold reading classes along with technique classes and take them constantly. A good actor always has a coach. Consistently submit yourself even after you acquire an agent. Don't go after any agent target the top agencies anything less is a waste of time. Work on your craft, do as much intimate theater as you can and get as much film exposure as you can and stay miles away from the adult film industry. I used this approach when I broke into to SAG it took me a little under two years to get my first principle role in a major film. Break a leg.

Big auditions simply are not held. The big roles are precast by the producer and director as part of the building of a foundation for the film To get a crack at any worthwhile role, you need an agent. For more information read my profile and write me at kencosp@aol.com and tell me about your experience and I will help you move forward in your career.

All I can tell you, as an actor, is to go to as many auditions for parts as you believe you are qualified for (training, experience, age, etc.) and be AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE.
Be polite. Write a thanky you note for having you.
You may not get the part, but chances are you will be remembered and that will get you parts.

They are usually only open to Union or Union eligible actors. You have your SAG card or eligibility. Get a SAG agent.

Understand the producer gets anywhere from a $1,000 to $10,000 fine for using or bumping up a non-union actor without good cause.

The other option is to find productions using non-union talent and it happens, but they usually shoot outside of Los Angeles 50 mile radius and if you take an outside the union job don't go crying if they hang you off a cliff.

You can't put a union actor in grave danger with out their express approval, but you can do anything you like to a non-union actor.

You refuse, they terminate you, you walk home.

You walk home and hire a lawyer, you'll never work again. Not even in small films.
