gives you experince. and it is a good thing to put on your actors cv. casting directors ge timpressed by this.

u need to be able to do small things first and build yourself up. thats what any good actor would do.

you need to learn to walk before you can run....thats a good saying lol.

They can help. They can show how you look on screen and handle a part.

They typically do more for directors than actors, cause the director ususally makes the film.

However, Nathan Fillion in the Serenity documentary stated that he knew one small actor on that set from a short film his brother did with the guy in film school.

If you saw Serenity it was the vault guard who was bickering over where to be shot to make it look like he put up resistance.

Now, understand he was a four line actor who went to school with Fillion and Fillion was the STAR of both the TV show Firefly and the movie Serenity.

So you can see how things work out. Two people, same school, one gets 40 pages of dialog, the other gets half a page.

One gets 50 minutes screen time, the other 25 seconds.

They both pay the same union dues.
