Going into the entertainment business?

Question:If i want to go into the show biz (acting/modeling), would i need to go to los angeles or new york or can i go somewhere in dallas?

You can start in Dallas but eventually you would need to go where the bulk of the work is and the location you choose depends on what type of work you want (tv, film, theatre, modeling).

I would start training and building a resume in Dallas and if you have the money and opportunity once you've established yourself a bit, then I would make the move to whichever city suits your career goals.

no im sure you can find some agents or classes or something in dallas. but new york or la is where its at. but if u have no experience or anything, dont even think about moving right now. find classes in your local area, audition for plays, and stuff.

There is LOADS of stuff in Dallas.

Many agencies are in Dallas. There are three good main ones.

There is lots of print work (modeling) and some acting work. Of course, many, bigger jobs are in L.A., but there is lots of smaller stuff to build up your resumae in Dallas.

You need experience before going to L.A. and Dallas is the perfect place to get it.

You should gain experience by getting involved in local theatres/classes/plays/etc. You should NOT have to pay anyone who says they will get you an agent (a modeling school).

Then you can send out headshots to agencies and hope they call you wanting to represent you.

You may even try at New York...
Carry a portfolio containing at least 25 to 30 numbers of 8" x 12" pictures... hard copies… and many more stills and videos written on a DVD / CD…
