I'm sorry but the general rule is that you never sing from the show you are auditioning for unless specifically asked to do so. The reason being is that the director may have a specific way that they want it done and if you do not do it that way in the audition you will already have counted yourself out. You usually choose a song in your vocal range that shows similar characteristics for the role that you want. You give your daughter's age range, but not her age which is an interesting trick that people like to use these days. This must be a children's production because otherwise I'm sure you know that no one in her age range would never be considered for any of the roles that she wants. Cinderella and the Stepsisters would all be in their 20's playing younger for sure.

First she'd need to make up her mind what role she is aiming for. She can absolutely write them all down on the audition form but she can sing only 1 song at the audition. A middle range says nothing. Is she mezzo or alto? Cinderella is a High Mezzo/Soprano so if she's not at least a high mezzo then that's out. Fairy Godmother is a mezzo and the stepsisters and one ach, mezzo and soprano. They are very different roles. if she wants Cinderella she should sing something ina mezzo / soprano range that shows that type of character. Same goes with the others. So basically go more comedic if she prefers Portia or Joy.

For Cinderella she could try:
Home - Beauty and the Beast
Somewhere That's Green - Little Shop of Horrors
Part of Your World - Little Mermaid
there are others but you've probably never heard of them.

For Stepsisters or Fairy Godmother (It's all in the delivery):
If Momma Was Married - Gypsy
Happily Ever After - Once Upon A Mattress
My New Philosophy or Little Known Facts - You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
Honey Bun - South Pacific
A Trip to the Library - She Loves Me
When You Got it Flaunt It - The Producers (if you did this as a Stepsister it could be really funny)

good luck,
Marianne

"Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables, it's meant for a young girl to sing.

These are a few of my favorite things.

If she wants the part of Cinderella, why not sing one of the songs from Cinderella. You can find sheet music on-line. The best song would be
"In My Own Little Corner" (Cinderella) by Rodgers and Hammerstein
Break a leg!

Something from what she is auditioning for would be good. Have her sing several to you. Have her tell you which one she likes to sing the most. It will help her to be more comfortable when she auditions.

Or, choose the one that you think she sings the best. Tell her why you chose that one to give her some confidence.

Best wishes and good luck for her!
