Question:as far as the monologue I would like to do one from Romeo and Juliet or mabye Hairspray . Any suggestions? other monologue selections are welcome. Mabye one from Diary of Anne Frank the play? as far as the song, I dont have that good a range and I sing a kind of alto range. I was thinking of doing a whole new world by aladdin, desperado by the eagles, ode to billie jo by bobbie gentry or possibly something to talk about by bonnie raitt. I think i need a song that is a kind of balladic, lower octave song that i can add some emotion to . Any other song or monologue suggestions?

Out of those i think that the Diary of Anne Frank monologue and a Hairspray song would work. However, if I were you I would try to find the best possible song for your voice... a wrong song can make your audition go all wrong.

Depending on the show you may or may not want to do a Disney song. Think of the type of musical it is and choose a song from another play that is similar. Always do a song from another musical never from the radio.
T
he monologue can be comedic or dramatic, it just depends on what you think your director would prefer.

High schools are a lot more flexible than other places so I'm sure you'll be fine either way.

Break a leg :)

wow thats cool! i agree with you lol you should deff do hairspray that would be so sweet!!! sorry no more suggestions hairspray would be awesome!!!!!!

If you know what musical is being produced, singing a song from that production is a nice way to get yourself 'into' the character.
