Flordia is actually a good place to start.

First, you need experience.
-local classes/schools
-local theatre
-school theatre/plays/classes

Then you need to have headshots made.

Send the headshots to many agencies in your area.

Hopefully one will call you.

They can book jobs for you.

After you gain actual real acting experience, you can look for an L.A. agent or go to L.A.

Keep in mind that the L.A. world is very fast-paced and expensive. Even if you are willing to move, you may not be financillay stable.

Also, you need to have high confidence. Many poeple will reject you. Don't let it bother you, they just don't have your look in mind for the part.

Don't give up, keep trying.

Good Luck!!

You are much better off starting in FLorida and getting experience and training. Los Angeles will be hard without that. Get into acting classes and get some credits on your resume. Check out backstage.com (casting search) and actorsaccess.com for auditions. Mom should do this for you. Neither are completely free but they are legit. Once you've had training and know what to do on an audition and how to breakdown a character and a scene then give it a shot. If you can get some student and indie films on your resume that will at least give agents something to look at.

Then get some decent headshots and send them out with your resume and cover letter to agents and see what professional credits you can add to that resume. There are 35 SAG franchised agents in FL so depending on where you are located, send to those closest to you and see if anyone is interested. http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/application...

By the way, places like John Robert Powers, Barbizon, etc. are not good places to take classes or get representation. It's a waste of money. Do not pay anyone who tells you they can make you a star, find you an agent, give you a package deal (classes, photos, and an agency all in one)... it's a scam. Legit agents always put the talent first. They do not take money from you up front and they do not combine services like that, in fact it's against the rules. Check out SAG.org and AFTRA.org for more info.

good luck,
