hope this site works!

"I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy"

Then you can talk for two minutes about how "Yankee Doodle" was a derogatory comment created by the British to put down the Yankee rebels, but the Yanks turned it around and made it their theme- a badge of honor.

"When the world hands you a lemon, make lemonade".

Best of luck!

I like Puck's monologue from A Midsummer Night's Dream. It has worked for me before! http://www.monologuearchive.com/s/shakes...

Are you allowed to do poetry? Since you are a bit younger perhaps Jabberwocky would be good.

Or this is Lews Carroll too - It's Alice

For songs:
Maybe something from The Music Man or Cinderella. "Impossible" is good. So is "'Til There was You!"

I think the best advice here is to stear clear of melodrama. I know that it is fun to sing the super dramatized stuff, but that is what a lot of girls your age will want to sing.

Try to pick a song that will show your best assets and that other people may not pick.

Im an actor and have done many shows, I think Steel Magnolias will have a couple of good monologues for someone your age. Also you can never go wrong with a Shakespeare monologue there are so many ones... Juliet(Romeo and Juliet), Emilia (Othello). So many. If you just go to a search engine and type in Monologues, or Shakespeare Monologues you will get places to look. I also have a lower voice for singing but really that song you will just have to look around. I think in Rent's Mimi's songs are written in a somewhat lower key. But any song can be sung in a lower key, just transpose the original.

OK well that's all I have for you. Hope it goes well.
