Question:books ,the ones with the title "learn to play the clarinet" i saw some rather cheap ones on ebay so is it possible to play by reading books,,,
dont say i need a teacher or stuff like tutoring is better because there are not any teachers in my area and my parents work on random days so if its not in my town they wont let me go.
anyway i just want to know if its possible to play by reading books ,i dont want to know about mastering clarinet just want to know to play

If you are REALLY committed, you probably could. Try to get very comprehensive books, though. The little cheap "How-to" books might be too general if you want to self-learn. Embouchre (or how your mouth is supposed to grip the mouthpiece) is rather difficult to get the hang of without a teacher so you'll want to study up on that.

Lotsa reference materials will have to go in, but it is very probable.

Otherwise, you may end up sounding worse than Squidward from the Spongebob tv show. (Stupid analogy, but he's terrible. D:) If that's playing, than sure. (You'll have to learn to stop squeaking, tho. It's tougher than it looks. xD)

edit: There are probably reference materials online and videos on how-to play. those could be useful!
