Question:I was just wondering, how Ibsen would have created more of an atmosphere during the tarentella dance. what lighting would he have used to show furthur noras state of mind, keeping in mind that the play is very naturalistic and green and purple lights flashing around rapidly as nora dances is not naturalistic. Oh and i dont have a copy of the film by the way

Well, keeping in mind that he wrote the play in 1879, when strobe lighting and the like wasn't really an item, I'm not sure he'd have thought all that much about the lighting. In Ibsen's time, a lot of European theatre was going through a phase when it was a popular idea to play for smaller audiences and to use the idea of the "fourth wall," as though the spectator were just looking in the window on a story that's happening. That's just one phase in theatre; many other traditions place more emphasis on stylizing the visuals and action and text, or at least addressing the audience directly.

Having said that, the Tarantella is Nora's dance 'cause it's wild and hot and crazy--everything she's not when she's trapped in that home. That should give you some ideas for what kind of lighting might fit.
