Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Are there any speeches worth memorizing?

Question:I've got a pretty good memory and like acting out monologues. I've memorized the speech given in Indepenance Day, Morpheus gives in Matrix Reloaded and the awesome one given at the beginning of V for Vendetta that has all the "v" words in it.

There must be some other speeches out there worth memorizing, what are they?

try the Gettysburg's Address, something a bit more useful than independence day or the matrix.

To be or not to be.....

i Have A DREAM

Definitely the "To be or not to be" monologue from Hamlet.

if you're into acting, memorize a couple classics like the hamlet "to be or not to be" soliloquy. there are some great historical speeches too. mlk's "dream" speech; patrick henry's "give me liberty or give me death"; and lincoln's gettysburg address.

No, you've pretty much covered all the great speeches in modern literature.

By all means, avoid all those insignificant plays that have won Pulitzers and Tony Awards.
