Question:I just had an audition. Obviously I can never judge myself objectively, but when I first got off the stage I was thinking. shitshitshitshit because i messed up a note in my song but he rest of it was decent. then i had to do another part of the audition which i did extrememly well on...right now, i think as a whole i did pretty well. but who do you think judges harder in the end...yourself or the director? do they take into account that you're nervous? and they see that you're talented despite that? ajdlasdsjad

There is a huge difference between the way actors judge them selfs and the way a director will judge them. Actors judge how they could have changed something, or what would have made it better where as directors look at the potential of the person for the specific show/role. While directors do take into consideration the nervousness factor they also have to wonder if that same nervousness could come off during a show, which they never want.

You're your own worst critic.

We judge ourselves more harshly after an audition. I've directed a lot of shows and I can tell you from experience that actors do a better job than they realize yet they tend to "beat themselves up" if they make a mistake. A good director sees through the nervousness so you can relax and enjoy your accomplishment.

I think it's yourself that judges more harshly.
