Am I only person who doesn't like the music in Wicked...?

I am extremely disturbed by the High School Musical craze, because High School Musical is juvenile, and the songs aren't even well composed they're generic and stupid.

However I can not agree with you on Wicked. It had some cheezy moments, sure. And unlike a lot of people, I do NOT like the song popular. However, I love Idina Menzel, and when she sang No Good Deed Goes Unpunished... It was phenomenal. Kristen Chenoweth was also very good. I saw the original characters and one other time when Shoshana Bean was playing Elphaba, she was okay... but it just didn't compare. The only two songs I dislike from that musical are popular and what is this feeling (loathing). The rest are extremely well done. I agree with steph in that it's over played, but that doesn't mean it's not good just because so many people THINK they know wicked when all they've seen is the soundtrack.

I'm not much of a musical genere of music person which is probly the main reason why.

Well I personally hate high school musical with a passion lol :) but i have to disagree with you on wicked. I saw it twice once in Broadway and again on tour. Any musical that has ever had idina menzel and kristin chenoweth sharing a stage can't be anything short of amazing.

I didn't really like Wicked either. Although it did have it's moments, it was too cheesy.
I'll admit I had my High School Musical phase (in 7th grade) but now it gives me a headache.

I will never EVER understand the High School musical craze. WHAT IS SO APPEALING ABOUT HORRIBLE DIALOGUE, BAD ACTING, CHEESY/HORRIBLE WRITTEN SONGS, AND AN OVERALL POORLY MADE MOVIE???? The world may never know...

As for Wicked, yeah, I liked it for a while. But then everyone started liking it and now its just way overrated and way over played (as in everyone who thinks they know a thing or two about musical theatre will bust out their Wicked CD and think they're cool..ugh). So, basically, I'm with you on this! lol

I can't stand these young girls who are all "OMGIDINAMENZELELPHABAWIKIDISMYREASONFOR... Yeah, they need to disappear. I mean, a few of the songs are ok lke defying gravity or dancing through life, but otherwise, I think it's overhyped.

High school musical makes me bitter to the core. I don't like the idea of young kids seeing it and thinking that it represents theattre or acting or anything. It doesn't. As a theatre geek I feel offended by it's existance.
