Some friends of mine and I used to make movies back in high school. We didn't have much of a budget. We pooled our money to buy the supplies we needed and did everything very cheaply. It was a similar group who got together and made Blair Witch a few years ago. That movie was big and they shot it for almost nothing. My advice is to start small and build as you can until you achieve your dreams. If you don't keep it simple, you'll be doomed to failure. So, to answer your question, I'd suggest making your money at a regular job and have your friends do the same, then pool money to make your purchases. Best of luck to you. Rob R

Well.
What we like to say here in the film industry is that, you want funding, you need a sucker, a rich sucker.
And rich suckers are...
Dentists! Believe it or not.
And 40 minutes is hardly what I call a short film.
If you could wind it down to at most 25 you would have alot better chance of getting funding.

Is this a festival project? Or just for your own amusement?

well it's generally illegal to attempt to raise money without a lawyer, broker or CPA but you can probably attempt to get sponsorship from companies

there are also grants available.
