Guys and dolls is my fave musical! Igot the lead part of Adelaide when my school did it as a 7th grader. It was a blast. If you are more of a comedy actress i would go for Adelaide. Adelaide has been engaged to Nathan detroit for 14 years. She really wants to be married and Nathan runs this crap game that Adealide hates. In the musical she has a cold. She sings a song called Adelaide's lament wich is all about her cold and her problems with
Nathan. adelaide has a New york accent and works as the main singer at a night club called hte Hot Box. there in the jr. version she only sings Bushel and a peck which is a really fun song. sarah Brown on the other hand is more of the serious one. She runs a the mission with her grandfather and they are always looking for sinners. She Falls in love with Sky Masterson. Sky is also a gambler who made a bet with Nathan that he could take any girl to havanna with him and Nathan choose Sarah. So he is trying to win her over. Sarah sings I'll know a duet with Sky, If i were a bell, Follow the fold with the rest of the mission, and i've never been in love before a duet with sky. She also sings marry the man today a duet with Adealide. there are also a few smaller female roles.

Rent the movie.
It stars
Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra

Guys and Dolls is a great musical comedy based on the stories written by Damon Runyon. The whole show is about a bet between a guy named Sky Masterson and his pal Nathan Detroit. Nathan has been engaged to a Doll named Adelaide, who sings and dances at a nigh club called the Hot Box. She sings a couple of songs in the show and has a chorus line of girls behind her. "I Love You A Bushel and a Peck" Is the most famous one, but she is a character with who needs to have a very New York accent. The only other female lead is named Sarah and she runs a Broadway mission looking to convert all the sinners of New York into good Christians. She has to be straight laced and proper at first. She is the object of the bet between Sky and Nathan. Sky says he will get a date with the doll of Nathan's choosing and he picks Sarah. So, the show turns on the pursuit of a date. It's a lot of fun to perform and a lot of fun to watch. The music is great and the story is funny, so it is a very fun show to be part of. To do this show, you need to have a lot of boys. There are two female leads, but there could be lots of girls in the chorus, too. I've seen this show with a cast of 150 people. No matter how you do it, it's a winner and loads of fun. I wish you best of luck in your audition and I hope you enjoy doing the show as much as I did. Break a Leg! Rob R

The best thing you can do for this is go to wikipdia and search Guys and Dolls. Also, when I'm researching shows I go to www.stageagent.com and www.musicaltheatreaudition.com to see what vocal parts the people are and get character descriptions. These sites also give information on good audition songs for the parts you're looking at. Good luck!
