Question:So, our school is having a musical (Cheaper By The Dozen).

I auditioned for Anne and Mom.

& I got a callback for Mom!!

But I didn't get the part of Mom. =[

I get to be in the "Teens and Townspeople".

=P

So I need some cheering up.

Are there any actresses who went in for an audition their first time and didn't make it? Or got a small part?

Thanks. =]

For three months before my urinetown auditions I prayed and prayed (literally begged God) to let me get cast as Hope. I read for it and sang for it at callbacks on a day where i'd been barfing all morning and did a decent job. I was up against one other girl for it, and it was for our school. She's a senior and im a junior. I read better and we sang pretty much the same. She won it because she's a senior, even though she's not that talentd.
Believe me, I understand. The good part is that I've seen shows where people in the chorus STEAL the show, so just go out there and overdo it and HAVE FUN! you have less to memorize this way and can spend more time getting tight with kids in the cast. And just own that role and show everyone you deserved better!

do the smaller part well, and you may be noticed for something better next time. give it the effort, you will be happy for it. At least you won't be in the audience watching.

Good Luck ! Be Positive & U Shall Succeed !

Every actress could tell you stories or the part they really wanted but didn't get.
Acting is probably the toughest job there is on the ego, because people don't get cast because they are an inch too tall or short, or have the wrong color eyes, or are prettier than the star of the show. It says nothing about your talent.
Break a leg & keep acting!!

Don't feel bad
I was aditioned for one of the lead part for a musical at my church. After three rounds of call backs (all in one day) it came down to me and one other girl. the final "test" was to sing one of the characters solos.
The problem. The had given us a tape of all the songs we would sing if we were to get the part. My tape only had half of them on it, and not the solo. So I was unprepared as I didn't know the song, (they had sheet music, but it is hard cuz I had never herd it before) needless to say... the other girl got the part. I was one of the background people.

Anyway... such as life, you'll get your big part one day!

Sometimes we have to prove ourselves in a smaller roll before we are considered for something bigger and better. Don't be down. There will be more plays. Just be the best you can be and enjoy yourself. It should be about having fun.

yea that happened to me. i tryed out for once upon a mattress recently with high hopes that i would get the part of the princess, but NOPE!! i got the part of "lady in waiting number two" and had 3 lines!

there has not been a single time I've walked out of an audition with the part I wanted, but the majority of them I ended up loving!
