Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Is it me or is my Theater production snobby?

Question:I recently joined a play at a local theater and I got a part. It's been about a month now with rehearsal. But why is it nobody wants to talk to me or at least make an attempt to approach? There are like 60 cast members I've only spoken to 4 including the director. I'm nice and I make myself approachable sometimes. The ones in particular are the ladies, they won't talk to me for some reason. I'm not mean and I hope I don't frighten them. Or I guess everyone just has there own group. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Hmm, could be any number of reasons. Sometimes community groups can be a little elitist. Just do your work well, be friendly and helpful, and hopefully they will warm up to you.

How sad, you've run into that rare instance of the "theatre clique". Part of the problem may be the sheer size of the cast [60 actors? My gosh what show are you doing Birth of a Nation!]. You want to break in, it sounds like you will have to make the first move. But make sure you don't talk to people while the director is working a scene, that is a distraction and unprofessional.
