It's mostly down to personal preference on which seats are the best. Some people like to be close to the action and prefer the Stalls, while others like to be able to see the whole stage and prefer the Dress/Royal Circle. I would advise you to avoid the Upper Circle if you possibly can; they are the cheapest seats for a reason, the actors tend not to look up that far and it can leave you feeling left-out.

Take a look at this webpage: http://www.theatremonkey.com/ALDWYCHbook...

There's a lot of information from people who have visited Aldwych Theatre on which seats are good value, have a restricted view, or are best avoided. I always consult these reviews when buying theatre tickets, the info is very comprehensive. Also don't forget, you get what you pay for!

I expect the best seats are the most expensive ones. Have linked to the seating plan. The different colours are different price bands (but what, I don't know, but you can check that out if you check online). Red will be the most expensive and yellow the cheapest. The best are in the red area towards the centre front of the stalls and dress circle. The one row of yellow potentially are cheap and only sold on the day (you will need to check it out, but most of the theatres do this). If you can't afford the expensive seats, then the second or third row of the upper circle (the front row usually has a safety bar which can be just at eye level and if you lean on it, the people behind will have their view blocked and will complain!). Don't bother with a box as they are to one side and you could miss some of the action. Towards the back of the stalls is ok, but depending on the size of the theatre, it may seem miles away. I sat at the back of the stalls in the Novello Theatre and the third row of the Upper Circle at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Both were fine. You may be actually limited with what you can get on the day you chose anyway. If you can, buy from the Theatre as they will have a complete listing of what is available. If you print off a copy of the seating plan, then you will be able to see where the tickets are available. You can always pay by card and collect them when you go to see the show.
