Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Where Can I Buy Realistic-Looking Fake Eye-Glasses?

Question:I am directing a local play and we need to put virtually all the actors in glasses. Does anyone know of a website, store, etc. that sells glasses' frames with just plain glass in them? I considered buying weak reading glass(but they can give you a headache) or just popping the glass out of them, but I want the glasses to look as realistic as possible.

the dollar store has some good ones

you can probably go to a place like walmart or costco optical and get plain - no prescription glasses made.

Claire's in the mall.

A novelty/costume store like Party City.

Sometimes eyeglass stores collect old frames.

Thrift stores!!!!

You could try any optometrist. They might put you in touch with frame manufatruers. Most manufaturers put plain glass into frames so that the person trying the frame also gets a feel for the actual wieght of it. You mgiht even be able to buy last years display models from them.
Lacking that option, yo could always use an online props source....like the one below

use the search and type in character glasses
