1. Absolutely. Voice lessons vastly improve your singing ability.
2. Dabble in everything. Different musicals will call for different genres of dance, so it's best to have knowledge in as many forms as possible.
3. It can help, but as long as you have a quality teacher at school, you should be able to get away with not taking them.
4. Check their website if they have one, but if not, look in the newspapers; they tend to have auditions listed somewhere in them.
5. A good audition and looking the part, if they're type casting. Be friendly, but don't try to sweet-talk your way into a role. No one likes a suck up.
6. As you know, I'm sure, theatre is an active profession. Running often would be good, to build up stamina for very physical roles. Really, no body-building is necessary. Do cardio exercises.
7. It really depends on what sort of role you're going for. If the character you're auditioning for is an upbeat kind of person, don't pick a depressing monologue. Match your character's personality with a monologue!

1) absolutely yess s you should get into voice lessons asap you will not last very long with out them
2) i would reccomend taking jazz for sure and hip hop but also ballet the ballet is to help you with technique and that helps you with other dance as well
3) you can go to theatre camp if you want to its not a need but it could be fun and you may learn alot i would reccomend taking acting classes tho
4)finding auditions can be tricky call around to local theatres ( in the phone book) and they should be able to help you out
5)directors like people who are themselves
6) dance will get you into shape and just regular exercise is fine also
7)the best songs and monologues to use are ones that are not over done such as wicked songs etc and ones that speak to you you want to feel very confident and comfortable with your choices and this is much easier to obtain if you relate to the choices

good luck!! hope to see youi on the great white way im about ot be a musical theatre major!!!
