Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Who is the Queen/King of opera to you?

Question:Hmm.... My favorite male lead is Jose Carreras. He has amazing versatility and range with a tonal quality that is more pleasing in my opinion than the other better-known contingent of the Three Tenors, Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. I especially love him in Bizet's "Carmen."

My favorite leading lady is Cecilia Bartoli, a fabulous mezzo-soprano who has jaw dropping control and range. She can convey the deepest sense of emotion with her voice alone, making her stong stage presense all the more impactful. I especially love her in Orfeo ed Euridice.

(Of the two, I'd pick Cecilia Bartoli as my favorite. Then again, I'm an operatic mezzo-soprano myself)

I'm just contented with hearing opera as it comes along with me in this life.

Queen: Maria Callas

King: Luciano Pavarotti
