Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Need Monologue Or Soliloquy From 12th Night - Shakespeare?

Question:Well I'm required to do either a monologue or Soliloquy for our 12th night unit in drama. But I can't think of what specifically to do...
It needs to be 20 lines in total, and hopefully have some good humor in it.
Also if it was one of Malvolio's lines it would be helpful as in every practival so far I've been Malvolio.
Thanks a Billion!

I've read/studied 12th Night and seen it performed. This play doesn't have many long (the 20 lines you need) monologues as compared to other Shakespearean plays.

Act II Scene II - Viola (assuming you don't have a problem with doing a woman's role) talks at the end about how she loves Orsino who loves Olivia who loves her (disguised as a man) which is kind of interesting.

Act II Scene 5 - probably the greatest Malvolio monologue, it's where he reads and reacts to "Olivia's" letter.

Act IV Scene 3 - Sebastian has one here at the beginning of the scene, but it's not earth shattering.

These are the only ones that I found that were 20 lines.

I recommend the Malvolio scene because it's not just him talking to himself... he's reacting to what the letter is saying and that recognition can make it very interesting.

Good luck!
