The play takes place anywhere and anytime. This piece does not need to be a "period" piece in that it is recognized as a play from the 40s with all men in business suits. I think it was written in the 50s and was re-done recently, but I directed a version of it at my old high school and cast 6 males and 6 females. This was not an attempt to be politically correct; it was simply the 12 best people who auditioned. We renamed it "We, the Jury" as an attempt to remove anything sexist and incorrect from the title (and as an homage to Mickey Spillane's I the Jury, but I don' think anyone got it). It was very challenging. We performed it in-the-round, so our set was a conference table and 12 chairs. Which meant we could all concentrate on some serious acting choices. Since there are no dated references to the Eisenhower Administration or WWII, and since the subject is timeless, we set it in the present. It may be an old piece but it's not out-of-date.
