Maybe u can make the chandelier out of clay? or tin foil? it probably would have to be light so u can lift it back up easily. u probably have to attach the chandelier to a rope and etc. there isnt really another way.

the boat, if you have to go the cheiper way, make it out of card board! just do a side veiw, or if you still wanna come from upstage, just do the front of the boat. add some dry ice and there ya go! the candles are hard... this all is actually. ummm, buy a couple of candles here and there and set them up! there should also be some fake ones around, where u can push the "fire" and it will light up. mybe they are selling them for Christmas?

I hope this helped! Im not much of a prop manager, more of a actor, but have fun w/ the Phantom of the opera! one of my faves! ;)

First, I question the decision for a high school to even attempt Phantom. Phantom may be released for production by other amateur and professional (summer stock) companies to perform, but unless there is a greatly watered down version of it, I would choose something else that you would be more likely to succeed at. Also, do you think a lot of kids at your school who don't know theatre will come to see a show with "Opera" n the title or something more like "Grease"? Do you have not only a Phantom and Christine but an entire (big) cast full of legitimate, classically trained voices? Forget the stagecraft. I think in the US there might be a handful of HS drama programs who could pull this off and they would probably be large, municipal areas magnet schools for the arts.

Consider doing a concert version of the show if you're just bent on doing Phantom, and involving your chorus. Leads sing separated from the chorus, not memorized. Everyone is in tuxes not costumes. And there is no scenery, lighting, or chandeliers.
