Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Good Musical Songs For Musical Audition?

Question:I am auditioning for my high school's next musical production. I am a low alto. I can go really low but can't go higher than G (chest voice). Can someone suggest some musical songs for me to audition? (I know it is hard to find a good musical song for low alto but please help me. I don't mind singing male parts.)Thanks.

Check out some of the Rodgers and Hammerstein songs because they wrote lots of music for low alto (also called contralto) voices. You could also do "Turn Back O Man" from Godspell especially if you're good at comic acting. There's also "Teaching Third Grade" from the musical Ruthless. Has a great low range, a good belt song for an alto and it's different so it will get attention. Break a leg on your audition!

I personaly love your're a good man chrlie brown, it has so many good songs, what i recomend is you go to you tube, and yype in the name of some of your favorite brodway performances, and there will numerous movies you can watch that will help you get a better idea of what the music shounds like, and then you can decide what you want to do!
Good Luck, and remember to speak loud and be confident!
