Who was originally set to play aragon before vigo morttenson?

It was indeed Stuart Townsend, but he would have been entirely wrong and far too young pretty boy looking. They had the great good fortune to get Viggo Mortensen on short notice - and then only because Viggo's son, a major LOTR fan, ordered him to go do it! So Viggo was the last major character cast. A lucky break for us all...
