I actually work for a student housing organization in NYC. Anything close to Tisch will be beyond expensive. You may be able to find something, but expect to pay more for housing than you are for tuition (several thousand dollars a month is not uncommon). NYU has some housing, but, as I am in the field, I can honestly suggest that you start looking now. The company I work for is already nearly sold out for next fall. Invest in an unlimited metrocard and look for something in Queens or Brooklyn. Housing prices in this city are outrageous, if you want to live near school, expect to pay dearly for it.

Tisch is located in the Greenwich Village section of Manhattan, a pretty expensive area. Some students there choose to live across the river in Brooklyn. Cheaper rents and easy access by subway. Is there somebody in the Dean of Students office or any other campus office who might be able to advise you?

We are talking NYC; there are thousands of apartments! Usually, tho, girls like the security of living nearby so if they get caught out late one night, they can take a cab. Guys are usually safe if they have to take a train back to Brooklyn or N. Jersey late
