Harold Pinter's "The Caretaker" has a wonderful monologue beginning with "I used to go there quite a bit".

Not a dry eye in the house.

There are, of course, the old stand-bys from Shakespeare: "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" from "Julius Ceasar" and "To be or not to be" from Hamlet.

  • Try Alan Bennett's 'Talking Heads'. I'm sure Google (or Yahoo) search engines will throw up some good extracts you could use for your audition. Good luck

    Go to a library.
