There is good news. Your lack of cash saved you from being ripped off. One Source Talent is a scam.

There's also bad news. Most of the professional modeling work in the U.S. (and by "most" I mean about 95%) is to be found in New York City. There will be more opportunities in Chicago than in many smaller cities, but pickings will still be relatively slim compared to New York.

I don't know who the legitimate agencies are in Chicago. I advise you to check them out thoroughly. Avoid those that have "school" attached to their name, or offer modeling lessons. There is no earthly need for "modeling lessons", other than to enrich the mmodeling school. Also avoid anyone that tells you that you need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a professionally-made portfolio. A legitimate agency would help you get fabulous photos for free.

And it's just silly to charge someone to host their pictures on a website. If they were getting any actual work for their talent, they'd have no need to nickel and dime them---they'd be getting 10-15% of the model's income.

If you're under eighteen, get your parents to help you look. You can't do this without their permission anyway, if you're underage. If you're over eighteen, you need to be super-cautious and super-cynical. Don't believe people who will tell you anything in order to get money from you. You know now that One Source is a scam, so avoid anyone who sounds or acts like them.

try the phone book

And so it begins ...

Go down this route and spend the rest
of your life worrying about how you
appear, spending long hours standing
around, potentially taking drugs to
make you feel prettier, etc...

If you're not carefull, you'll end
up basing your entire self worth on
your appearance.

And then being all washed up by 35.

I know I won't be able to convince you
not to go down this road so all I can
hope is that you might be one of the
lucky ones who can pull this off and
have a happy life.

I strongly suggest you develop other
interests, especially ones that earns
money, as you enter into modeling.

And good luck!

i dont know but i heard that agencies that make you pay money for your pics are scams

NEVER
EVER
Pay for anything when you sign up.

Talent agencies work like this.

You get signed up.

You bring some photos.

You are marketed, you get cheese, they get a part of that cheese.

That's it.

Not sure about ones out there in Chicago.

But, never pay anyone.

If a modeling "agency" tells you that you have to PAY for ANYTHING,? they are NOT a reputable modeling agency---NONE of the best agencies will make you pay for ANYTHING...? I would try googling modeling agencies in Chicago and call a few to see what their requirements are---look for names like FORD,? Whilamenia, Wm Morris,? etc.??

Try http://www.onemodelplace.com/ online.

Also, you won't have to pay for anything that's legit! You will usually have to pay to get a professional portfolio done, but that has nothing to do with the agency... you get that before you even talk to them!
