Do you have a monologue prepared? More than likely you will have to do a monologue in front of a director and casting agent. They may provide you with a monologue to read. You will also probably be given a side to do with another actor. When you do this, you want to be careful not to over act or give the character any accents, unless it says so in the script or you are told to do so. Don't talk to fast or to slow, always know what you are doing with the side, don't just wing it cause that rarely ever works.

Make sure you have a good head shot and resume prepared. The resumae should be like any professional resumae and lists any preforming experience of instructional workshops you have done. Also what extracurriculars you are involved with.

More than anything, be likable and charismatic. You don't want to have beg for a role, you need to be someone they want to cast. Make them want you, don't hope for them to like you. Don't look nervous, stand offish, or shy. You want to be open and make good choices with the character that showcases your talents.

Don't shake their hands unless they want to shake yours. Be polite and courteous, but don't over do it. Makeup, hair, and wardrobe shouldn't be overly done either, look the role.

more than anything, ACT PROFFESSIONAL!!! they want trustworthy dependable people, not lazy rude people. if it is a musical, bring sheet music for the pianist or acompanament, NOT a cd. that is very bothersome to most directors. unless instructed otherwise, have a monolouge ready. i always wear darker clothes to my auditions, but that just might be me. have stage presence also. when reading your monolauge or singing, dont just stand there, get into it but be sure to stay in your spotlight. dont panic. if there is an audience watching you audition and they are true actors or even nice people, they will support you weather you do good or bad. and lastly, remember that you are your worst critic. you might think you did horrible, but chances are you did WAYYY better than you think. GOOD LUCK!!!
