Any instrument is hard to play really well.
Different instruments suit different people.
To play the violin you need a very, very accurate ear, because the violinist makes the notes him/herself. That is the same for all the viol family of instruments (violin, viola, 'cello, double bass).
On many other instruments, such as piano, flute, clarinet, oboe, the instrument pitches the note for you.
That is not to say that those instruments are easy. To play the piano well, you have to be able to manage several different lines of music, whereas the stringed instruments and the wind instruments play only a single tune (line) at a time.

But don't be put off. If there is an instrument you really want to play, give it a go. Get some lessons, music shops in UK often have a hire/buy arrangement. This means you can pay 25% of the value of an instrument (not a piano though), to hire it for three months. Then you can give it back, or you can pay another 25% for another 3 months. Then you have the option of giving it back or buying it.

If you dream of being a musician, follow your dream!
Hope this helps.

Well, the piano was the first instrument I taught myself to play, as I'm v. musical - and to be honest, it is quite easy, but you have to practise, practise, practise.
Almost any instrument I pick up, I can pick a tune off, and the only one I can't is a violin.
Guitar, flute, organ, you name it - if you are 'musical' you can play it without being taught, but you need a lot of instruction for a violin. I just put mine away.
(Ooops, I've just looked this over and thought 'what a bragger' - soz, I don't mean to come across that way :D)
Whatever instrument u try, if you are dedicated enough, and love it, you'll do fine.
Have fun

Not after 15 years of hard practice.

the piano was actually the hardest instrument for me to learn because I've got short fingers and it was harder to play, but i've gotten better, I've been playing violin for 6 months and I play with my school orchestra and i'm better then some people. I don't think it's actually that hard, my bow grip and fingerings are amazing and i've got a straight bow and don't move my shoulder when bowing, however i don't know vibrato yet. i'm getting my friend katie who's been playing for 7 years to help me.

It's usually said that the harp is the hardest, then the violin. The piano is by no means the easiest. Maybe the guitar is, though of course anything done well, is difficult.
