Position:Home>Theater & Acting> Sooze from Eric Bogosian's play SubUrbia?

Question:I am in an intro to acting class and I have to do a scene from the play for my final. I couldn't check out the play from the library (it's on reserve or something). So basically I would like to know anything and everything you know about Sooze's character!

I know she's an aspiring actress, wants to move to NY but her guy (Jeff) doesn't want her to go. I remember she was performing a spoken word piece when she first enters the play, but I forget what it was for. Please, anything you know about her character would be MUCH appreciated!

Sooze is an artist, she paints and does "performance art". Her performance piece is a feminist rant on all things "supressive", namely men. She wants to go to NY to pursue her dream, but Jeff is afraid of change. She eventually ends up breaking up with Jeff and hooking up with Pony, a high school acquaintance who has formed a rock band is now somewhat famous. Basically she needs reassurance to pursue her art, and jeff isn't giving it to her. Pony supports her dreams, and so she finds in him what she couldn't get from Jeff.

Hope this helps.
