Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How can I copy Audrey from Little Shop Of Horrors' voice?

Question:I'm playing Audrey in my school's production of Little Shop of Horrors and I was wondering how I could make my voice sound like hers.

If that makes any sense.

Yo!
I love this character, Really just watch the movie or listen to the CD like ALL THE TIME so that you know what is going to happen next and just how it will happen before it even does.

Then know her character (which might take some time) but for the voice...
you shouldn't "Copy" her voice but make your own
And for that you need to just step outside of the box and get outside of your comfort zone and just sound funny.
Because if you don't do it full out you will look funny and not like Audrey
She also has a POWERFUL singing voice so when you are speaking really play the Bronx accent up, but when you sing some parts you should play up but mostly just sing your little heart out, especially "Suddenly Seymour"!!!!

"Break a leg" to you and your entire production

Yes, the voice Ellen Greene uses for her character Audrey in LSOH is pretty unique.

She puts a lot of 'ssh' sounds in her words, and 'w' sounds. So when she says 'sure', it sounds like 'shoo-wah'. You need to raise the pitch of your voice. I always imagined her like a little mouse with a high squeak and a Bronx accent.

I loved the movie. And I hope your school production is a great hit. The best of luck, sweetie.

don't.
please don't.
as an actor you need to create a character.
no one wants to see the movie character during a live show--if they did, they would watch the movie.
forget what she did, and do what you feel. read the script, develope a character and go from there.
please :) best of luck
