Question:Since Macbeth would fall unless Burnham wood marched on Dunsinane, why didn't Macbeth simply fortify Burnham wood thereby nullifying the prophesy. since Burnham wood can't march on itself.

I think you mean to say that since Macbeth COULDN'T fall unless Birnam Wood came "to high Dunsinane Hill..." and therein lies your answer. If you think a wood is incapable of moving, why relocate? His enemies, in attempts at camouflage, strap leaves and branches to themselves and creep toward the castle.

Actually, if you suspect the wood of being able to "do" anything, why wouldn't you burn it?

I can't understand exactly what you're thinking there, but I'll do my best to answer the question. Macbeth found it preposterous that trees could uproot themselves and march up a hill, so he was not worried about it.
