It depends on your age and where you're performing. Generally speaking, you want to shine and be seen from the stage - all the way to the back row - so light and/or sparkly clothes will work best. Whatever the venue, resist the urge to dress down or casually - no torn jeans, extra low or high tops or dirty sneakers. You'll leave a better impression all around if you look like you take your performance seriously and respect your audience enough to dress up for them. (This counts double if this is a judged event).

If it's a school or local talent show, you can probably make something nice in your closet work - nice dress or pants & shirt, heels (age and size appropriate). If it's for a larger venue or a pageant-type talent show, you'll probably need something showier.

Check your local Re-sale shops, Consignment shops, Goodwill or online at Ebay. Check stores in a nearby urban area if you live in a small town or rural area. Many bargains can be had on some gorgeous dresses and gowns at these stores, especially just AFTER homecoming, prom, wedding and holiday party season, etc. Also, Costume Shops are good sources for nice and/or unique performace wear and can rent you something nice for less than buying.

Good Luck!

I love that song!
First, I would search your closet for something you haven't worn in a while... can't find anything go to a friend's closet It doesn't have to be super fancy, dress like yourself... If all else fails go vintage wear your moms clothes the crazier the better!
Break a Leg

it doesnt have to b flashy. just where a cute, sophisticate outfit in your closet. or maybe just a formal dress

Go to thrift stores and put an outfit together.
