It's great. See the orignal movie version (starring Sidney Potier) for inspiration. Some aspects of it may seem a bit dated (the novelty of a woman wanting to be a doctor, neighborhood associations organzing to buy-out Blacks who are planning on moving in), but many of its themes (generation gaps, overcoming adversity, etc.) are timeless. Also, some of the dialogue (especially Walter's lines) are pretty intense and far from boring.

Sounds like a good play.
