dear one if your desire is strong, start by joining drama classes in school to see how you like it. then take dancing classes for self expression. if your mom agrees with your desires, there are theatre newpapers that advertise commercials for young people etc. there is also a casting agency for children called rascals. it is bonifide, but you are under age so your mom plays a definite role in all your future plans.

Try school or community theater.

14 is an early age to start acting! it's a really good age to start.

i would start off trying stage acting first. that's something where you can try acting out and see how you like it and learn from other people. plus i think it's really fun.

the best advice i can give you about acting is to really get into it. i've seen a lot of kids who aren't as great of actors as they could be b/c they are too worried what their friends think. trust me, if you give acting your all and really get into your character, everyone will love you. just get out there and have fun!

Start by doing community theatre and school plays. That is the first step to doing any acting on or off camera. I think that it is very common for parents to say that their child doesn't take rejection well I know my parents said that to me many times. Just prove to them that by doing plays and smaller gigs that you can commit yourself to the project and still make it work with your schedule. Your parents want to see disipline, i'm sure. Age 14 isn't a bad time, no age is bad, you just need to be careful, always have a parent with you at castings and be mindful that things may be scams. I think that if your really into acting for the thrill of being on stage then it will show when you do theatre. From that point, once you've done a few plays, you can move up to camera work.

Hope this helps:)

acting is about being able to summon the appropriate emotion on demand and to be able to show that emotion on your face and through your body movements, and the changes of tone in your voice.

this requires a keen awareness of your emotional states. you have to know instinctively what each emotion feels like. You must feel that emotion very strongly.

example in practice;

the director gives you 2 pages of the script,
you are a homeless girl walking alone at night in the rain. and your only friend, a cute little dog was just run over by a large trash truck.

what should you be feeling in this scene right now?

sadness, loneliness, cold, despair, hopelessness, etc...

the director gives you five minutes to prepare for the scene.

imagine yourself in that situation how would you feel? the more you can see yourself as that girl, the more real your emotional responses will be.

to experience any emotion just remember when you have experienced it last, and relive that moment to intensify you feelings. remember the last time you were really sad. or just use your imagination.

example 2
in a movie you have to play a small role as a female engineer at an industrial plant.

how to act like an engineer?

you need to figure out where in your area are engineers and what excuse can you get to observe them in their daily activities.

to figure someone out go to the mall and watch people. hold your posture like theirs, walk, sit, stand like them, breath like them. after some practice you will gain a greater understanding of people and why they do what they do.

it does not matter what your age is, just how passionate are you about being an actor is the only real factor that determines your success or failure.

as for rejection.
do not take anything personally.
You do not know what people want.
all you can do is guess what they want.
and try to give it to them.
you must practice your skills often to get good.

good luck.

you have to have your parents' support too succeed as you cannot act or have an agent without their consent until you are 18. The only way to convince them is to be in the school plays and be so outstanding that they are proud of your talent and want you to continue;
