call up the local paper and put out an ad as a wedding singer; also find out when/where they are having a bridal fair in any town near you.....ask the coordinators what you need to do to have your own booth. You need some references, so find friends/ family that are willing to say how great and responsible you are.

Drink beer. Seriously.

First, singing in a choir really doesn't get you noticed very well. You need to solo, you can try an add, but if know one has heard you sing, chances are, it will be a slow road. What I did was to make a demo C.D. and passed it out. you can do this relatively cheap, just ask the sound team at your church to help, and rent some tracks music from a music store, or some book stores, and allot of libraries have them. If you play an instrument )piano, guitar) use it in your demo. Hand them out at church, at parties, the mall, everywhere. I now turn down more opportunities then I can take. Good luck, and keep practicing, and NEVER give up. If you need help, just ask. Singing is such a great and wonderful thing to be able to do. For any advice, you can reach me at woshere@yahoo.com.

1. Are there any community choirs where you live? A lot of areas will have community or professional choirs. Join one of them.

2. Tell your friends and associates that you are available to sing for parties, weddings and other events. Prepare a demo tape ahead of time, in case you are asked for one. Be sure to know in advance a fee range (I assume you want to do this for money). Very few things are more effective in advertising than the good old fashioned grapevine.

3. Are there any party planners/wedding planners/caterers you can work with? You *might* depending on your talent, age and experience, be able to work something out where they will recommend you to clients. I would certainly have a demo tape for these contacts. I would prepare a resume with your vocal/acting training as well.
