Casting is the process in which casting agents, people who audition the actors, watch the actors and actresses present monologues or dialogues. Usually this is the first step to getting a role in a movie, television show or play. The casting or audition process is long and the directors may need to really get each actor/ess to interact with other people as well as compare them to other good actors and actresses.

Casting is basically taking actors/actresses and putting them in their place as their designated characters, chosen by the Director after seeing an audition. You've probably seen casts lists all the time (at the end of movies, when the credits are scrolling by and it shows the CAST, which shows which actors played which characters.)

All it could really do for an actor is place them in a certain spot in a show or movie as a character.

Casting means well.. It's hard to explain.
