She is not the daughter, she is neice of Signor Leonato. Hero is the daughter. Beatrice is sarcastic. She has a quick tongue. She is witty and honest. She would NEVER call herself a romantic. She would never admit to loving a man. She is protective of her family. She is strong and guarded. Beatrice is one of the most fascinating female characters ever written. Trust me when I tell you that it is not until the end of the play that she even lets her guard down and even then it's because she and Benedick are tricked into admitting they are in love. She is my favorite character I have ever played.

She is the eldest daughter, this is a great one, it is funny and very romantic

Try this. Hope it helps. Good luck!

If I recall correctly Beatrice was the fisty, hard-to-get, daughter of the "king" of that community.

cheap shot: rent/borrow the movie from your local library, borrow "cliff note" type books from the library and read along as the movie progresses.

Beatrice is basicly a lady who likes a man who stands out but doesn't really want to admit it. She is like someone trying to fit in and hide her normal self.

ooh it's been a while since I read that. She's the Governor's niece. I just remember her being the real comedy factor, of this play...of course along with Benedick. They were the comic duo.
I hope that helps.
