For those of you who have seen Hairspray on the touring stage version...?

Question:When they performed You're Timeless to Me did they burst out laughing? I was wondering because my friend saw it on a different day than me but both times they laughed. Just wondering.

I saw it on tour and everyone laughed at various points throughout the song. I think it was the character Edna's actions and stage presence that just made people laugh!

If I remember correctly they did...close to the end of the song. They just stared at each other then just started laughing. Ya I'm pretty sure it was staged.

I am going to see it on Broadway next week! If anything I will let you know.

A show like HAIRSPRAY that is on tour and still on Broadway as a hit is a highly polished, 'set in stone' evening. If there is any 'impromptu' work, it is either because it is inherent in the nature of the show, or unprofessional behavior. I hope that's what you were asking.
