Jo Brand as the Chief of Police in G&S???

Question:What do you think of Jo Brand?

What do you think of them updating Gilbert and Sullivan and casting Jo Brand as the Chief of Police??

I know I`ve been a G&S addict since 1955 when the Savoyards used to come to New York and perform in the Jan Hus theatre.

I like my G&S like I like my G&T- straight. No pun intended.

I suppose she is roughly the right shape but I don't think her voice or general demeanour would be acceptable.
They seem to think nowadays, that every show must have at least one well known star, which is not necessary.
The Savoyards and particularly W.S.G. would have disagreed with that idea entirely.
Personally, I'm with the old timers!

Jo Brand is a great comedienne.

I love Jo Brand! She would be amazing in anything she did, so yeah, this would work!

jo brand is not only a very talented lady but also a very clever one.

Jo Brand is very funny (and straight!) but she is no actress by any stretch of the imagination.

I think it will fantastic. Jo Brand is far more refreshing than a G&T.

Alternative casting may just help G&S escape from the "Fly in Amber" syndrome that the Savoyards seem determined to promulgate.

My biggest concern is if Jo Brand can hit the low notes.

By the bye, it is the Sergeant of Police, not the Chief.
