Does anyone know the 'rules' for drama school auditions,?

Question:I mean like the date boundaries for monologues etc. i know some places want ones after 1950, but is this written after or set after? obviously i understand the boundaries for jacobean ones, but its the modern ones which confuse me.

Probably anything from modern classics like Miller or Williams or Inge or Simon as well as contemporary writers would be good. I don't think so, Modern drama started in the 1880's historically speaking and there are lots of good authors from earlier times, like Shaw and Chechov for examples.

It depends on the school, some schools give you the monologues.

there aren't really any set 'rules' for each and every school. i think that when you audition, you should audition with something from the same time frame of the play. but at times, the monologues are given to you and you dont have to worry about an era or time period to pick.
