I don't have a very high voice either, so it's been really hard to find songs for me because most lead roles are sopranos. Here's a couple of the songs I've auditioned with:
"Sixteen Going on Seventeen" (The Sound of Music)
"A Bushel and a Peck" (Guys and Dolls)
"There Are Worse Things I Could Do" (Grease)

"Don't Stop Believing"

try "i'm not that girl" from wicked.
or "not for the life of me" from thoroughly modern millie.

i dont think that either of the are too high or too low.

hope this helps!!

Is the play a musical? If it is, it really depends on the role you are going to audition for. For example, my high school is doing The Boyfriend and if I were to audition for the role of the french maid, I would chose a song that would sound good with a French accent. If you want the judges to remember you...you can either go for a hilarious, crazy performance or a "blow[ing] the fish out of the water" performance. I think you should try looking into the songs from Wicked or The Wizard of Oz. You can alter the notes to make it sound good for yourself.

I'd prefer something from a play or a musical like Chicago or Mamma Mia, but also choose something you like and feel comfortable with. Make sure it's something you love to sing so you'll be happy with your choice and not feel quite as pressured at your audition!

It would help if you knew the role, the play, but you should pick a song that you enjoy and can sing really well. I would suggest anything from the "classic" musicals: anything by Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, etc... Good luck!

Depending on what musical it is anything from Aida or Into the woods is really good. And if it is a more modern show mama mia is an awsome show with more stylistic songs. Good luck
