Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How do I get permission to perform Grease in School?

Question:Well, first of all you need to make sure you have facilities and staff willing to support you in running a school play. At my school the play is normally done with two english/drama teachers and two music teachers so it doesn't take very many adults.

To perform any musical or play you need permission from the rights holders otherwise your school could get fined. I am currently doing Grease at my school and we got rights from Samuel French (try http://www.samuelfrench-london.co.uk/ ). I don't know if Samuel French will work if you aren't in the UK but it shouldn't be to hard to find another rights holder with the help of your teachers.
Hope that helps.

You need to speak to your Drama Teacher whom in return should speak to the Principal.

You have to buy the rights to it from the Musical Theatre company.

1. Speak to your Drama Club sponsor, they can arrange to get permission from your teacher/ the school board.

2. Then you have to purchase the rights to do the show, usually from MTI, and this is the director/producer's job.

Then you have permission!
