What is the musical Wicked about!?

I know that it has to do with some fight over a guy but what else is there to it. If u could can you please tell me all u know about Wicked my school is doing 2 songs from it Popular and Defying Gravity and I will be auditioning for the role of Elphie. And I was just being curious about what its really is about,so if you could tell me it would be much appreciated.And if u would like to give me some tips on how to get this role that would be much apprecitated as well

Elphaba (who is only called Elphie by Galinda) is a very gifted witch who is treated badly by her father and shunned and made fun of by everyone else. She goes to Shiz where she finds that the thing makes her different is what makes her special. (This is where she sings The Wizard and I). Popular is fun, but Defying Gravity is the heart of this show. Elphaba is bright, idealistic and passionate and she has been stepped on all her life. By her father, by her peers, by her sister; and this is where it all changes. By having the wizard, who her biggest hope, her biggest hero, be revealed to be a fraud and a despot, and then being targeted by him, she breaks away from what she used to be and stands alone.

This the song from a girl who has just been released from her chains. This is her rallying cry! Sing it with your whole heart and try to make the audience (or in this case the directors) feel like you might just fly off that stage and never be pulled down!

The intervals can be a little tricky if you don't support correctly, and you have to switch from your belting voice to a head voice pretty quickly so watch that too. I've seen the show in Chicago and performed these pieces. Break a leg! it a musical adaptation of one of the books from the after series revolving around the wizard of oz. Its about the two sister (the good witch and the bad witch) and how they were friends and sisters. Reading it would be your best help. Long before Dorothy drops in, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of how these two unlikely friends grew to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

This fantasy-filled musical was the winner of three 2004 Tony Awards including prizes for Best Costume Design and Best Scenic Design. From real flying monkeys to a trip to the Emerald City and a soaring, modern score by Stephen Schwartz, Wicked is a true spectacle for the eyes and ears the musical is basically what happened BEFORE wizard of oz. its about the good fairy (u know the pretty sparkly bubble one?) and the evil witch. and u no the witch under the house? thats elphies sister nessarose or something like that. anyway, it tells the story of elphie and belinda(or wat ever her name was) how they start out being best friends and then something is happening in oz to the animals and then their friendship tears apart. oh yea, the are room mates and the good witch gives elphie a makeover thats were the song popular comes in. any way thats generally wat its about. Okay Wicked is an amazing musical made after the book Wicked that is the story of the "evil" witch and why she became evil. And it goes through her life starting with when she was born and then going into her life in Shiz which is the univesity and then when she goes away from school. It is an amzing musical and really don't need to read the book to know anythign about it soo ya its is sort of different from teh book because the book is really long and sad and kind of like PG15 so ya but its really good but the musical is really amazing and is totally kid friendly and super amazinh with great singing and everything

And with elphie you have to be really strong she is super strong and has a mind of her own so you have to be super high and amazing and nto care and ps she has green skin so ya its really kool, so make sure you don't care what people think of you
