In his sleep his arm reached over to embrace
The only love he had known!. She was not there!.
He awoke and reality struck him suddenly
Bringing instant tears in remembrance of her face!.
She was gone!. She was gone forever!. She left him
Suddenly and without reason!. He stroked the pillow
Where her head used to lay, remembering her long
Golden hair only she could wear!. Even with lights dim
Her hair shone as golden as Aphrodite, and as he
Would stroke it gently her closed lipped smile would
Appear!. But what he liked most was when he took
His fingers, running them softly through her hair!. She
Liked it too!. Her head would turn to his and then her
Eyes would open staring at him, melting his heart for
Those eyes were her soul!. Not blue, but azure as the
Sea, and he knew nothing was there but love so pure!.
These were memories!. She had left him!. He went through
The psychological phases of denial, anger, and so forth!.
But he couldn't reason why!. As beautiful as she was he
Always felt she deserved better than him!. Those eyes of blue
Haunted him!. Her gold hair he wanted to touch again!. And
He promised he would!. She was on the stage!. He had a front
Row seat!. He was not to the point of acceptance, yet!. Boldly
He sauntered to her and as he looked down at her, a face bland
And eyes of the Carib closed forever, the satin and silk showing
No justice to the beauty that once was!. He kept his promise
And placed his hand upon her hair!. It felt alive as it always did!.
He didn't lament though tears flowed like a waterfall singing
Thunderous noises that he soon realized was his aching heart!.
When the time of acceptance came he knew what to do!.
Not much later he knelt, placed flowers at her resting place,
