On one side of piece of paper, write expressive, descriptive words for your feelings: hopeless, pain, anger, etc!.
On other side of this page, write a few sentences' narrative description of how your situation began, where it is now, what may happen (if you have opinions about that)!.

Then, sit meditatively!. Try to find a perspective with which you will guide your poem!. It could be a feeling of irony, of anger, of sadness!.!.!.but whatever authentic perspective or insight you decide to be emphasizing!.!.!.that guides and gives your poem wholeness!. Using the same word feeling descriptors, and the same narrative, with a different, also genuine, motivation, you could write a second poem as well!.

"Nineteen Ways of Looking at Wang Wei," Weinberger and Paz, is a great book about this, and very few pages!.

"Creation: Artistic and Spiritual," O!. M!. Aivanhov, and
"Emotions," Marilyn C!. Barrick, Ph!.D!., are also worthwhile!.

also, keep a copy of your poem, regardless of how you might "grade"/evaluate it, or feel about it later!. It's more like a diary entry, a creation-child, a picture of your inner sense, innocence, inner child, trying to emphasize goodness and healing, find meaning!. (Such poems are even very helpful for one's children, who might find it most helpful to know you too were once "human" and "real!." :-)Www@QuestionHome@Com

In all honesty, if you ask for other people's opinions on how to write a poem that is supposed to be your venting, then it won't make you feel better!. You need to write down all your feelings, using whatever you can, metaphors, similes, real words, complicated words, something that doesnt make sense to anyone but you!.!.!. ETC!
Skip a bunch of lines, blah blah blah, babe you can edit it later, right now, write for how you feel!. It will come out better than you think when it comes from the heart!.!.!.

From a totally novice standpoint, the best way Ive found to capture emotion in a set format such as poetry or music etc is to listen to/read something that speaks to you and try to do a 'cover' version, (i!.e!. if you are planning on writing on love, look up a famous love poem)!. It may sound weak, but the point is you will never replicate what you are trying to, but your personal touch will become evident in the disimilarities betweeen your version and the 'pro' version!.

Pick it out and expand on it!. Its supposed to be from you, not conform to a format!. Hope that's some use!.

I always write better poems when I get outside in nature!. If you can pick a place that is near to home but has some nice natural features, it might help!. Even a place like a backyard could help bring you ideas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
