Question: Is my Poem really tasteless!? It seeks to explore working class exploitation in the 21st century!.!?
The Rent Boy

"Look out Mam, his car's about"
I heard my little sister shout
The young lad the Landlords employ
Hardly rent man, more a rent boy!.

We hide like mice in the kitchen store
While the rent boy hammers on our door
"I know you're there" he belows out
"I know your here or hereabouts"

Though we crept so quietly
he was not decieved so easily
Time and again did he return
To take our money so hard earned

We awaited till he went away
knowing he'd be be back some day
But by that day we prayed that we
Might have a win on the lottery

Or perhaps a bet on hores or dog,
might see our cash flow woes unclogged
Or a winning scratch card may well be
The key to financial security

My mother always does her best!.
To ensure we are well fed and dressed
What luxury we could enjoy
If we could avoid that damn rent Boy

I don't know that I'd describe this as a poem about the exploitation of the working class; what's exploitative about wanting your rent money!? But the poem is pretty good, although your meter falls apart rather a lot in the thirds stanza!. It needs a bit of work, and maybe a bit more refining, but isn't bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh, it's alright, one supposes - hate the rhyme, tho!. also, rent boy in colloquial speech means young male prostitute!. N/a here, really!. also, lacks sufficient working class context!. This is more like neighborhood of people on the dole!. People working usually pay the rent, actually!. More research required to make specific and pointed allusions!. Think of the Pogues' Rain Street!.
